This week I had the pleasure of helping with a Digigirlz Technology Camp Podcast Workshop. The camp was hosted at the Microsoft Campus in Redmond, and the Podcast Workshop was hosted at Microsoft Studios. In the workshop, the girls received a brief introduction to podcasting, then broke into small groups to spend approximately twenty-five minutes crafting and rehearsing a brief show. Following the prep period, the teams took turns cycling into the voice-over booth to record their masterpieces. The results were great and can be found here: http://digigirlzshow.spaces.live.com/

AllTel Wireless and Melodeo Inc have just made it easier to access podcasts via mobile phones via the launch of the Axcess Mobilcast Service. Thousands of podcasts are available to Alltel Wireless customers via their mobile phones for a monthly subscription fee of $3.99. The programs being made available (from well know media brands as well as indie podcasters) are short in duration and cover a wide range of genres. According to the Axcess Mobilcast press release:

Axcess Mobilcast is currently available on several popular Alltel phones. A simple interface allows listeners to browse categories or search programs with no wait time. Podcasts are streamed or downloaded and can be added to the “My Favorites” channel with one click.
