Digigirlz Try Out Podcasting

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

DigigirlzThis week I had the pleasure of helping with a Digigirlz Technology Camp Podcast Workshop. The camp was hosted at the Microsoft Campus in Redmond, and the Podcast Workshop was hosted at Microsoft Studios. In the workshop, the girls received a brief introduction to podcasting, then broke into small groups to spend approximately twenty-five minutes crafting and rehearsing a brief show. Following the prep period, the teams took turns cycling into the voice-over booth to record their masterpieces. The results were great and can be found here: http://digigirlzshow.spaces.live.com/

Podcast: Youth Media Institute

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

Travis and I were fortunate enough to spend some time today with the folks at Youth Media Institute here in White Center. These guys are learning how to create their own media, and we’ve been talking with them about the podcasting scene. But, of course, the best way to learn about something is to just dive in and do it, so we’ve recorded a short podcast with the group here. Hope you enjoy it!

Podcast Awards Open for Nominations

Tuesday, July 4th, 2006

The 2006 People’s Choice Podcast Awards are officially open for nominations. The 2005 Awards Ceremony was the highlight of the Portable Media Expo last year in Ontario, California (it was like podcasters had their own Academy Awards), and I suspect it will be an enjoyable event this year as well. Awards will be given in categories such as Peoples Choice, Best Produced, Business, Comedy, Gaming, Food and Drink, and More. Make a point to vote for your favorite podcasts as these awards are your opportunity to honor your favorite podcasters for their efforts to inform and entertain.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available as well.
